Good Bye Hinkley B. You Won't be Forgotten.

  • To me it seemed very wasteful to simply turn it off when working correctly. I would have been inclined to SLIGHTLY extend the life of the power station. To avoid endless extensions on the basis of "just slightly longer" I would have placed the following limits on continued operation.

Only to run until the next trip, no more re-starts, not even one more.

Only to run until the presently loaded fuel is used up, no more refueling.

Whichever of the above occurred first.

This loss of 2% of peak demand or 3% of average demand will increase the risk of power cuts this winter, considering also the possible gas shortage.

  • But what about the planet and the environmental damage caused and the nuclear reactor ready to be blown up??
