A major solar storm hitting the earth could have most serious consequences, with huge destruction of infrastructure and millions of lives lost.
In this particular case, the source of the news and the absence of reports in more serious media makes me very doubt full indeed.
And what happened ? Nothing much it seems. No doubt someone somewhere experienced some disruption but I am not aware of any significant effects.
A future solar storm could be worse and could have devastating effects, so it is well to remain prepared, but this was a non event.
