Demand Factor (used to be in The Electricians Guide by John Whitfield)

Hello,

Handy old book I have, The Electricians Guide (5th Edition) by John Whitfield, lists out typical Demand Factors grouped by building or area type.

e.g. 40% for office or school, 70% for restaurants, 60% for a bank, etc.

Is there any other document that lists these factors?

I am doing some very high level preliminary space calcs for a client, based on BG_86 2024 W/m2 rates, but want to apply a diversity factor that has a solid/respected reference and not just my feel for it.

Normally I would have went with referencing The Electricians Guide mentioned above, but it appears to be discontinued, so I am wary of citing it.

Thanks.

  • Unless I have misunderstood.

The closest thing would be Appendix A of the onsite guide.

    "Maximum demand and diversity"

The locations are a bit more restrictive, and the diversity is split into circuit types.

Hopefully it is the type of thing you are looking for.
