Fire fight system fire door and segregation device applying

Dear Gent,

hereby to request fire doors and segregation devices type list to integrate in UK, for being in compliance with applied fire fight system.

I mean that in UK there could be a warehouse with sprinkler integration (into the rack), and we need to segregate the avant-corps from the warehouse by integrating fire doors to segregate/split the two main zones/volumes, establishing the time before closing the doors in question.

I am looking forward to receiving your kind feedback.

Regards

Antonio

  • Sorry - its not quite clear what you are asking here ? The choice of materials and the design will be the domain of the fire risk assessor. If this is you, there is a lot to learn. It might be worth looking at approved document B so that at least you are aware of the common approaches and what questions to ask.

  • Dear Mike,

Thanks indeed for amount shared The Building Regulations 2010 (Fire safety, approved document B)…. It is useful, on the other hand I would like to receive an approved document about safety regulations to prevent fires in industrial field in UK.

I mean for an industrial building, a traditional and automatic warehouse.

Practically, an area where there are automatic machines, operators and their escape ways to consider and keep.

Thanks in advance for your kind attention.

  • Then you need the second part B, for any buildings that are not dwellings. Its on the same web page.
You may be expecting something that does not exist exactly.
What some countries do, and we deliberately don't, is to enshrine in law a fixed recipe or code for any particular situation. (*)
The law tells you what to consider, and the level of safety to be achieved. Then the approved docs describe representative ways to do it, and refers out to various British or European standards documents for things like alarm performance, evacuation plans,  and fire door thickness etc. The assumption however, is that building designers either are, or more commonly, employ,  subject matter experts (as consultants) to actually make the detailed design decisions.
    Mike.

    * this occasionally causes problems for nationals from countries that expect to be told what to do by some state published big book of building codes, as is common for working in America in particular.

  • Morning Mike,

I shall start by saying that you are confident about fire fight system application… thanks indeed for your feedback!

However, you are right, it needs to be an expert (as consultants) in the specific law/regulation applied in specific country.

Right… during a project, the engineer can do an assumption in general to define the space to leave, or to draft the thickness of a door, on the other hand for the final decision to freeze a project it needs to have the assertion of the expert, independently of destination country of the project in question.

    It is clear!

    Thanks again!
