Laser level?

I need a decent laser level for marking out down lights, I don’t want to use chalk line if it can be avoided due to the mess it leaves, but at the same time I don’t want t to be paying over the odd for a laser level.

The level needs to have a decent line which can be seen throughout hallways as long as 20ft+

any recommendations would be great
  • You need a decent quality one. Typically £120ish.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap one a few years ago, £50. Great for small domestic rooms, totally useless for an office.

The Bosch one here is what I have now, and I reckon it's really good.

  • I have one similar to Alan's and can confirm it is good, I use it for setting out sockets and ceiling lights.
  • I like Leica - levels, cameras, binoculars, microscopes, but I haven't tried those fancy 3-D scanning devices.
  • I’ve now got a more expensive Dewalt 360 green laser, comes complete with batteries. Makes downlighters, conduit etc a doddle. Would seriously recommend getting green over red beams.

Yes, red can be quite difficult to see on some surfaces...... but I think laser levels are fantastic.

I wish I'd had one when I first started in the 60s :)
