Another question:

Not sure about this sentence below from the JIB, it does not make complete sense taken by itself. Is a gold card lesser value than a Reg Electrician.

Electricians who signed up as Registered Electricians with the 17th Edition must upgrade to  the 18th Edition by 1st July 2019 or revert to their standard gold card

  • I was just looking at this on “Ask the community”.

Do you realise that letting agents and landlords are concerned that there are not enough electricians to cover the introduction of compulsory electrical safety inspection and testing of tenanted properties?

There are issues, but maybe the likes of the JIB and Sparksafe should stick to looking after the interests of large electrical contractors who want to employ electricians on the books and as subbies with the interests of consumers being left to those such as the NICEIC and NAPIT.

Large commercial projects and domestic work is completely different and there isn’t a one size fits all option.
