That was last year and very odd - it seems that the pub wall somehow had live parts on it, and he made contact while climbing up to retrieve a ball. There seems to have been be something fishy about it, as the police are involved, so I'm wondering about some dodgy homebrew electric fence type thing.
however speculating is dangerous and often wrong, I imagine we will all find out in due course.
