To bond or not to bond

July's Wiring Matters has an interesting little article about items that are commonly bonded that need not be, helping clear up any misunderstanding.

  • There need to be more accurate definitions used. Liable to introduce a potential. At what resistance? What is the current capacity?

A screw into brickwork will introduce an external potential, (usually earth), just at an incredibly high impedance. With alternating currents, ANYTHING conductive will have a path to earth.
