CALLING SPARKING CHIP

Andy

There is a splendid set of carpentry tools at the moment on Ebay. Just search for GTL tools and scroll down to the tool chest. I thought you may be interested and I could deliver it to your relatives address for collection.

I’m going to have to decline this generous offer.

So would I because I seem to have most of the implements. I haven't heard of the brand before, but they look good. If you really want to drool over joiners' tools, look at Lie Nielsen examples. If you have reached the stage of your life where the mortgage is paid off and you have spare money, go for them!

First off, SWMBO reviews my purchases of tools, well the purchases that she is aware of, and unfortunately the purchase of legacy tools such as an  Avometer or boxwood handled chisels tend to be questioned with comments such as “Well, are you really going to use them?”.

Secondly, I cannot move in my garage at the moment and need to spend a weekend decluttering before considering trying to get anything else in these.

I use my Avo meter from time to time, not least when I suspect that the batteries in my Fluke multimeter are past their best. And of course I use my chisels, and gouges. I am seriously working at making space in my garage too. Do you remember those puzzles where you move little lettered squares around one at a time? Mrs P gets a flea in her ears when she gives me grief over tool purchases, but I never count her shoes.

One of my purchases that resulted in a severe raising of the eyebrows was a Stanley roofing square ...

I had to Google that, but I do appreciate that what we may think is a British make is American. And none the worse for it. Those squares look ideal for setting out conduit bends. ?
