CALLING SPARKING CHIP

Andy

There is a splendid set of carpentry tools at the moment on Ebay. Just search for GTL tools and scroll down to the tool chest. I thought you may be interested and I could deliver it to your relatives address for collection.

  • If you buy a cheap metric roofing square in the UK you will generally end up with a imperial  square stamped with metric measurements, to correct it you need a hacksaw and a file to cut the ends off and tidy them up, though the bladed won't be quite the right width.

I was sat learning how to do electrical calculations graphically at college one evening.  The lecturer said we need to know the length of the hypotoneuse of a right angle triangle with sides of a length of one, 1.414 I replied,  how the hell can you remember that was his comment. Simple it is stamped into a carpenters metric roofing square so you don't forget it, because it's the run of the hip and what you are doing for the electrical calculation is the same as setting a roof out.

Technically it is possible to do some electrical calculations with a carpenter roofing square. I was told that back in the days of pounds, shilling and pence some carpenter worked out there wages with a pair of imperial roofing squares and also that slide rules were invented by carpenter.

How many of you use a Mear Calculator?
