Cu change before pv install.

Customer wants to install pv panels after the new cu has been fitted and I just wondered what devices to fit for it.Think the PV is 4kw,so I thought maybe a B20 mcb and a DC sensitive rcd? Thanks for any advice.

  • Check the RCD requirement for the inverter.  Don't assume it will be 30mA.  Even if the inverter is suitable for a 30mA RCD, you may have problems with nuisance trips after storms, and this may only show itself as the installation ages.  So giving the inverter its own RCD is a good idea.

There will need to be an isolator between the CU and the inverter.  It might make things easier to get that in place in advance.
