CPD SUBMISSION

Good morning All

For those of you who are IET registered members and/or registered with the Engineering Council you will know you have to do CPD and record it.

I have been asked in an email to submit my CPD record  for 2018 which, I have done. I did this in a spread sheet as I good mate said that doing this on Career Manager is a pain.

I am asking, if it is not an embarrassing question, if you have had an email request and how do you record your CPD?
  • I received the email and recorded mine on Career Manager. As my employer keeps records in the HR system I had all the required data and just had to learn how to use the Career Manager system. I all have now received the CPD review summary.

    Best regards

  • I tend to record mine, rather intermittently, on Career Manager. When I first started it was a bit clunky but due to a combination of CM upgrades and increasing familiarity with the system I now find it pretty straightforward. This means if I get an email asking me to submit it I just have to go into CM and hit the Submit button. If I have remembered to submit it I don't even get the email. (My records are probably not particularly accurate - once I get to three or four times the CPD hours requested I tend to get a bit lazy and only record the big things, such as conferences, which makes it look as if I concentrate most of my CPD early in the year)

  • Career Manager is a pain, for various reasons.  But you need to record CPD somewhere, and Career Manager makes it easier to submit your yearly CPD, once you've done it.  So I prefer to record everything in CM, rather than recording it all elsewhere, then trying to work out how to submit it.
  • I had the same request earlier in the year and used Career Manager for it.

This was my first time using it but found it to be fairly straightforward and I'd rather use a single system so the export to pdf function is handy for if the ILP or CIBSE decide they want to see it too.

It's maybe a bit clunkier than doing your own spreadsheet in a format you've decided upon yourself etc. but I find the whole process a chore so a little bit of back and forth between webpages is nothing really.
