No more Sentry consumer units?

Anyone else heard that Honeywell are ceasing the production of MK consumer units and accessories at the end of this year?

Can't recall where I got the story now, but it went along the lines of not being a big enough money maker for them to carry on.

That said, I had noticed some very good offers on Sentry cus recently but wondered if it was because they were end-of-line and fitted with type AC RCDs.
  • I can confirm that production is ceasing the reps on the company stand at Elex told me so.

£58 at a Homebase store that was closing down a couple of months ago.

I have not actually used any yet ?
  • Are they stopping completely or is this just the closure of the factory in Wales with production being moved overseas ?
  • I was told at Elex that production is completely stopping.

So presumably spares and repairs means a visit to EBay, unless you happen to have a trolley full.

Definitely ceasing production , due to production costs Being unsustainable

bit sad really as regularly used to fit Mk consumer units , but their rcbos were blooming expensive

have recently been put onto a new brand called ‘fusebox’ rcbos @ 10quid a pop

Sold in packaging and at a store which are aimed firmly at consumers. So much for notifiable work!

  • The law around part P means it is perfectly OK for individuals to buy and fit an MCB, nothing stopping repairs and replacement, which are non notifiable, or a new circuit as notifiable working through 3rd party verification, or if you are lucky enough to have a building control dept that can do it at sensible cost, direct notification. But I agree, an awful lot will just get fitted and appear by magic.

I can buy absolutely everything that I need from DIYer stores to build my own house extension, plumb it in , wire it up and heat.

you will never stop Diyers from doing work on their home.

i would bet my years wages that 1000s of part pee notification jobs go unnoticed every single week...

  • ...and a lot of Part P notifiable installations were made just before the regulations came into force (despite the evidence of the date on the cables and/or the installed equipment indicating it was later ?)

  • I wonder whether MK considered SPDs and AFDDs and concluded that the R&D was not justified?
