Anyone still wire loop lives at the pendant/light fitting for new Lighting circuits ? I insist that its not permitted due to past experiences. Always feel the average diyer thinks that turning the light switch off is safe enough to do when replacing a Light fitting which puts them at further risk of shock. Someone said recently that it's still acceptable to wire this way and often the wiring of choice for new Lighting ccts in new build housing ?

I have to say that I find your post quite extraordinary! Where are you going to stop? Can't loop in at switches cos your "average diyer" might want to change switch plates? Your "average diyer" if he/she is that inept would be better advised calling in an electrician imho.
Loop in method for me is a lazier option. It's easier and cheaper for the "I will only buy twin n earth" brigade I know that but in the current climate an open invite for introducing more risks. Stick to higher standards. Germany and France condone it. Do we go all out Brexit on it ?
Most of the properties that I work in use the loop in lighting method at ceiling roses with T&E cables. Occasionally I find single insulated and sheathed lighting cables. Mr. D.I.Y.er can still get a shock at the switch if replacing a switch if the supply is run there first. The loop in system can be of use for ceiling light fans. The permanent line is connected to the fan via a small cord switch on the fan light, and the light is controlled independently from a wall switch. There must be millions of homes wired three plate at ceiling roses, proving its popularity.
Dunno about that, see plenty of diy switch swaps usually chrome finish jobs, had one last week where a chap had replaced a two way withs metal front and connected the yellow to the earth terminal, his job is a H&S consultant
Generally on new work I loop the live and neutral through the switch boxes.
But I’m not obsessive about it, if it is more practical to loop through the light fittings I will do so.
Do not start worrying about if a DIYer understands how the lighting is wired, if they don’t they should leave it alone. I have seen an incorrectly wired plug that had full colour illustrated instructions on a label attached to the flex telling you how to wire the plug within 200 mm of it.
You cannot dumb down electrical installation work to make it possible for idiots to work on it at some future time.
