Earhing of Semi-Permenant Fencing

Afternoon all,

We are installing some semi-permanent (Herras type) fencing as demarcation across a site. Parts of the fencing will pass within a meter of our pipelines which are bonded to the site main earthing. My question Is does the semi-permanent fencing need bonding too or is it ok as it sits on the ground rather than in the ground?

Thanks

  • If there are no cables clipped to the fence, or electric lights/cameras or whatever connected to it, then there is no need to worry unless there is another factor to consider . Railways have other rules for example.

I presume the pipes go into buildings with electric lights/pumps or whatever, which the fence won't ?
