LED Driver wire colours

BS 7671 is a bit ambiguous - as you say it could be DC power (which in this context includes lighting) - in which case is should be brown/grey rather than brown/blue unless the ELV circut is earthed (which normally it isn't); or it could be regarded as ELV - in which case you can use just about any colour you like (other than blue). Interestingly, green (although still not listed in table 51) is no longer prohibited for ELV line conductors - so there might be a temptation to use red/green/blue for the main wires for RGB LED systems - but the reservation of blue for a neutral conductor still puts paid to that.


In practice, I suspect people use whatever is most convenient for the wiring system that have to deal with - and would even suspect that brown/blue isn't that uncommon for a 2-wire SELV system even though it isn't strictly correct (unless one of the wire is eathed you have two line conductors, not one line and one neutral).
