  • I remember pay controls in the 70s. The firm I worked for was not allowed to pay me more so I got anther job. To replace me they had to pay more to my replacement than I was getting on my new job!

The more I see of politicians the more I feel, with few exceptions, we are the lions being lead by donkeys.

Edit: I should also have said I worked in companies where there were separate canteens for: hourly paid workers (you paid a deposit for the knives and forks) , weekly paid staff (foremen), Monthly paid staff (you paid your bill at the end of the week) and a restaurant for the directors. The MD of the factory I was in would organise the strikes when production was ahead of schedule, he ran the most cost effective factory in the group. I did work for one group with even more canteens/resturants but I cannot remember all the categorisations.
