One wholesaler had an offer of a reduced price for 9 quantity or rolls containing 8 T & E and 1 twin only rolls of cable. They all looked identical.
Those who asked could have 8 at the same unit price but you`d have to select the one you discarded without touching it.
He would put some (any number you requested) on balancing scales and you were allowed two balances to determine which roll you rejected.
Therefore those who were happy with 9 rolls got them knowing they had a twin without earth in the batch.
Those who rejected one roll at random - every ninth person got 8 rolls T & E.
Those who used the balance scale thoughtfully would get 8 rolls of T & E guaranteed.
