Tested a 3 phase supply lighting supply to street lighting.

IR tested 0.00 on all 3 phases.

contin. tested to 1.79,1.76. 1.48

But when generator is used the fittings work.

any theory would be nice.

    Ah but... the OP said "the photo cell was removed" - so we're more in a 'lamps in switches off' kind of situation - so the lamps shouldn't appear as connected loads (just with the proviso that the L wire after the photocell is tested as it it were part of the N side).

    But he also said 42 lamps in total & 3 phase feed.... so there must be some other control gear around ..... no photcell can directly control 21kW .... we need more detail :-)


    As hinted above.... my money is on a N-E fault.
