Tested a 3 phase supply lighting supply to street lighting.

IR tested 0.00 on all 3 phases.

contin. tested to 1.79,1.76. 1.48

But when generator is used the fittings work.

any theory would be nice.

    Is the 4 pole contactor breaking L1, L2 L3 and N; or is N solid, and there are  groups of lights on  L1 or something - you say 4 way MEM fuses surely not fused neutral ?



    84 lamps at 500W each, even accross 3 phases  is 15 kW (50 plus amps, say 10 times that on inrush ) per phase - it is a fairly bosky set up, especially by modern LED standards.
