*SOLVED* Potential (typo) error in 709.521.1.4 Wiring systems of marinas

*Note, my mistake, corrected by Chris P. in 1st reply. Question left in case it is of interest to anyone else*

I have just noticed what looks like a possible error in my early 18th Edition, and it isn't addressed in the December 2018 Corrigendum. It might have been mentioned already on the forum, but if so I missed it.

709.521.1.4 The following wiring systems are suitable for distribution circuits of marinas:

(i) Underground cables

(ii) Overhead cables or overhead insulated conductors

(iii) Cables with copper conductors and thermoplastic or elastomeric insulation and sheath installed within an

appropriate cable management system taking into account external influences such as movement, impact,

corrosion and ambient temperature

(iv) Mineral-insulated cables with a PVC protective covering

(v) Cables with armouring and serving of thermoplastic or elastomeric material

(vi) Other cables and materials that are no less suitable than those listed above

I assume "serving" in (v) should either be "sheath" / "sheathing" similar to the wording in (iii); or possibly "covering" as in (iv).

Does anyone know if this has been acknowledged and what the official correct wording (if different) should be?

  • Yes, sorry about my deletion Perspicacious, on reflection I looked at my post and felt I could write a more accurate description. regarding the old Electricity boards systems. I will try and get a pic for members when I am around tomorrow, there are many in service still. By the way, when I mentioned "older members" I meant the wiring committee, not this forum.
