JCC LED6 Downlighters

Today I have replaced yet another of the above for a customer, fortunately not installed by me. Her experience, judging by reviews on t' web is far from unique and they're not blinkin' cheap. Personally, I prefer a can and a separate lamp so I wondered if anyone else on here has had this problem and if they found an alternative can that is not too dissimilar from the LED6. Thanks.

  • Don't get me going on it either. I have had problems with the standard replaceable LEDs. Having sourced some samples I showed the different LED bulbs to the customer in a test unit in her kitchen and she selected the one she liked, I tested them with the dimmer I planed to use and all was well.

I replaced over 40 of them throughout her house with about 15 being in the large kitchen. I should say they were installed before she bought the house.

Within a month about six had failed. The supplier could not supply a LED with the same or similar: colour temp, LED appearance when off, illumination angle, CRI or dimmable characteristics. They even tried twice to send me none dimmable replacements. I ended up going around swapping bulbs from different rooms to try and get a match in each room.

Over a year later I got a call from the customers husband asking if I could supply the details of the conversations I had had with the supplier as they had continued to have problems. I had piles of emails and records of telephone conversations which I sent him. He was a solicitor and I suspect he eventually got satisfaction, at least he did not blame me.

Oh yes! Unphased may be a bit of a Phantom elsewhere.
