Paul Bamford:
Thanks Chris, I’d misread the tables, but Method D looks like 60A, or am I missing something? Even so, with my existing SWA 10mm cable I’m restricted to 40A RCD protection?
Paul, see 433.1.203. I worded it slightly badly. Whilst the cable may well handle 60 A (or more depending upon the soil conditions) the overload protective device must be rated at no more than 0.9 times the tabulated CCC, so a 50 A MCB would be the max.
