Here is a prototype of the answer to all that messing about inside the CU. I estimate that a manufactured 25mm version could sell for £1.00 fairly easily. Note this design is copyright David Stone 2020. I have tried a couple of manufacturers of CUs but no interest yet. They obviously don't care about ease or safety!
