Main Equipotential Bonding.

Good Morning,

                         I came across an underground oil pipe at a bungalow that emerges in a small outside boiler room at floor level. The exposed metal pipe in the boiler room is about 0.4m long and is easily touched, say by an oil boiler service technician. The oil feed pipe then converts into what appears to be a flexible "rubber" hose directly to the oil boiler. The bungalow supply is T.N.C.S. via over heads in a rural location.


1. I was concerned about the boiler (exposed conductive parts) being simultaneously touched with the metal oil pipe (extraneous conductive part, albeit a short length).


2. I was also concerned with a possible lost external neutral situation, so main bonding of all pipes was necessary.


Was I correct?

    As always, main equipotential bonding with a min size 10mmsq is reqd and this case is no different. 

    The main bond, a DNO requirement, at the oil pipe, a supplementary bond to the boiler under the non mandatory regs, the size, off my head, 4mmsq, connecting exposed/extraneous parts.

    Furthermore, it is not generally known that bonding (10mmsq) min between the services is reqd  even if there is no electricity supply in the outbuilding. This is because in the rare event of pipe (1) becoming live, pipe (2) needs to be at the same potential.
