He also attempts to build a AFFD tester which electrically tests rather than relying upon the mechanical action of the test button on the device itself.

    Thank you Stewart for that information. Your last paragraph is very much the feeling of many people and is borne out by the statistics we have from the USA and UK. Mandatory AFDDs seems to be a policy without evidence or purpose, and hugely expensive.
