Stuffing gland and swa

Is it okay to use stuffing gland with swa as long as as the armour is earthed at the supply end?

  • If there is nowhere to terminate the armour and it is earthed solidly at the other end, as there is another CPC then by all means cut it back so that it ends just inside the gland body. The one thing the thin PVC insulating tape probably should not be relied upon to do is be the sole insulation, at least not if it is going to be there for a few years. Heatshrink sleeve (the glue lined sort) or self amalgamating tapes are better, as  they tend not to come unstuck in the same way. Equally back in side the body of the gland it cant go anywhere.

It does however make me wonder what sort of cable the makers intended the vave  for - presumably not SWA.
