In a TT system what protects the meter tails from an earth fault?

    The OP asked about meter tails. Meters are Class II, so earthing doesn't come into it.

    Sorry my question wasn’t clear I meant if there was an earth fault from a tail touching an exposed conductive part 


    Are you specifically asking about metal consumer units, or other random bits of metal (such as gas pipes) that may be in the vicinity of the meter tails?
