Test Leads & Approved Contractor Scheme

Hi All

I Have been out of the loop for a while so apologies for daft questions :

- Are the nice Kyoritsu test leads (fused and non-fused) still readily available ? i can only find the non-desired Kewtech type on a quick google search ?

- What are the current options and opinions for joining an approved contractor scheme (i didn't say scam) - Are Stroma no longer offering this ?

Joe
  • Hello Joe

    Long time no hear.

The Kyoritsu leads are ni my view the best you can get. They are sold under the Kewtech label along with Kewtech's own leads. Make sure the leads you but are labeled Kyoritsu. They come with fused or non-fused probes depending on what you buy..

Sadly the Stroma electrical scheme is no more as they were bought by NAPIT and is now a closed scheme. So now you only have 2 choices NAPIT or Certsure badged as NICEIC or ELECSA at the moment.
  • LOL.

When I was driving to work in your next of the woods a few weeks ago, I followed a STROMA van down the road, but I could not identify the driver.

Stroma Certification and other Stroma groups still exists and is a very big company. They only sold off the Stroma electrical certification to NAPIT which for the moment users the Stroma Installer logo I think for another year then it all becomes NAPIT. So you will see Stroma vans around but they do not do electrical certification any more.
  • I had a couple of years in STROMA and I think it`s sad there is now less choice for contractors as to which scheme to pick. I do not like monopolys and was pleased we had a choice of a few. I picked STROMA to save me money (I was not influenced by the fact that one of my forum heroes was in their camp) .

I`m not decrying any of the other schemes either.

No doubt they all had their plus and minus points too.

I was with ELECSA for the remainder and was very happy with them too.

Seems our gas comrades have less choices with the Corgi/Gas safe setups.

  • It is a shame. I was interested to join Stroma for electrical certification and enquired a few years ago but it didn't materialise due to career choices taking me in a different direction. The fees appeared to represent decent value.
