Historical enquiry.

Can anyone recomend any online source for older wiring regulations, pre war or wartime.

I appreciate that current and recent regulations are copyright, but preseumably older ones are now out of copywright ?

Or does anyone sell reprinted paper copies of the then IEE regs, pre war.

  • As the BOD says I am a fellow anorak who collects copies of the Wiring Regulations.

I believe there are 3 known large collections of the Wiring Regulations outside the Bodleian library, these are the IET archives, the BOD collection and my collection in 3rd place. I could be wrong on this and would like to know if there are other large collections?

The 1st edition was not published as a single document but was included an a publication by the Society of Telegraph Engineers and of Electricians. As a member of the IET I was able to  access the library and hold the copy of the  book from the archive containing the 1st Edition in my hand which was a huge privilege for me.

I can only go back to the 9th Edition 1927 which is not as far back as the BOD collection. I did produce an 11th Edition 1939 in a County Court case when a defence barrister questioned the validity of my evidence.
