Hi I am fitting a caravan hook up on the wall next to  the dno incomer box. No wires exposed. Do I still require an earth rod. The earth bond will be prob 1 ft long inside so not exposed. I know if I fit the box away using swa then yes earth rod would be used.

  • Got me thinking about my caravan.

It's  two year old touring van parked next to garage. It's built onto a Al-Co metal frame and timber and plastic construction.

Has a DP RCD and DP mcbs. Our supply is TT 3Ø 100amp per phase. To caravan is 2.5 6242Y from 16A mcb to Canavan supply box with 30mA DP RCCD.

I think everything is covered at home!

Out and about, we have never been on a site but in fields using only battery power (large solar anel on roof) and gas heating/cooking and hot water.

Water from stand pipe to 50l water barrel and onboard WC cassette emptied into elson point.

None of this nanby-pamby going to sites with showers, toilet blocks and washing machines.
