PVC out, LSOH in?

Grapevine is full of rumours that the next amendment will preclude the use of conventional 70' rated PVC cables, inc twin and earth and that only Low Smoke LSOH cables will be permitted.

Anyone heard anything on this?

  • The requirement in the Republic of Ireland is that the selection of all cables used in buildings shall meet, as a minimum, Class Dca,S2,d2,a2 in accordance with ISEN 50575 and the smoke generated shall result in transmittance values of not less than 60%. This is being rigidly enforced.
