Power cut

We unfortunately had a power cut this afternoon although I was having a sleep thru most of it anyhow the point is I foned SSE they said it should be back on by 17:30 in fact it was restored by  around 17:10  just wanted to say well done and thanks to the engineers who fixed it. Apparently the whole of weymouth portland and Dorchester were off must of been a big bang!!
  • looks like it was Chickerell Power cut in Weymouth and parts of Dorchester | Dorset Echo

perhaps the cotton reels got a bit tangled
large cotton reels in substation?? - IET Engineering Communities (theiet.org)

I go camping near Weymouth every year so used to being a bit off grid.
  • Lol maybe they did! It affected wyke regis and portland too so was a big fault  still its all good fun innit
  • I had a power cut last week, overnight. I would probably not have noticed it but for my pet cat.

The cat wakes me in the event of a power cut. He can hear the UPS alarm, and responds to this by waking me.

    Z.

  • Broadgage thats an Amew sing story lol does he feel catisifaction after waking you
  • The cat has learnt that if I hear the UPS alarm at night, that I will generally get up to investigate, and whilst so doing will give extra attention and a treat to the cat, and in winter might put a log on the fire. (which is provided primarily for the cat of course)

Therefore he has learnt  to wake me in case I do not hear the alarm,

In very severe weather he sometimes wakes me to advise that the fire needs attention.
  • Its true isn't it dogs have owners cats have staff

    And slightly related lockdown humour.

"I saw the lady next door talking to her cat, she obviously believed that the cat understood every word. When I went indoors, I told my dog about it, and we both had a good laugh "
