514.12.1

Would it be a good idea to add the fact that the periodic inspection and test resulted in a PASS or FAIL on this label? Should it be redesigned to allow for this?

  • I think, like PAT Fail labels, that is rather the point - perhaps it reminds folk to get something done, much like the Gas 'At risk' or ' immediate Danger' notices you sometimes see on gas fires or cookers, usually stuck or tied on in  way  that gets in the way of the controls.- you'd be chittering at the landlord if you moved into a place with one of those, and perhaps something similar  on the electrics ought to elicit a similar reaction..

However, as per the other threads we have, this is not consistent with the £50 drive-by inspection, and really we would need to set the bar for a fail to be a lot worse than 'not quite to current standard'  or worse 'feels wrong'

I think the C1 /C2 thing is supposed to do that, but really it is never that simple. - Even the 'obvious' exposed live parts may be more or less dangerous if say a ceiling rose is missing the cover but well out of reach, well it needs fixing, but not turning off tonight,  versus a socket at child finger height with no fixing screws, that needs something doing right now.
