Fire Risk Assessment.

Good morning all,


 What qualifications does a fire risk assessor have to have to be competent, and to be able to comply legally with his designs for fire alarm systems etc?


My customer is getting in a bloke to carry out a fire risk assessment prior to installing smoke/heat/CO alarms in a rental holiday cottage.


Can just any old unqualified body claim to be a fire risk assessor, like estate agents that need no formal qualifications?

    Your customer has to get a full assessment of every possible risk, not just the fire risk assessment.


    So the folder of reports will be quite thick with your EICR with all the other reports and certification. However at the end of the process of the landlords are going to have to assure themselves that nothing has been missed, even if they have a letting agent they should be checking the letting agent has fulfilled all the obligations.


    Even down to having thumb screw exit knobs on final doors, so no key is needed to escape in case of emergency. The landlord is getting in an "expert". I hope that I can meet him to listen to his words of wisdom.
