Fire Risk Assessment.

Good morning all,

What qualifications does a fire risk assessor have to have to be competent, and to be able to comply legally with his designs for fire alarm systems etc?

My customer is getting in a bloke to carry out a fire risk assessment prior to installing smoke/heat/CO alarms in a rental holiday cottage.

Can just any old unqualified body claim to be a fire risk assessor, like estate agents that need no formal qualifications?

Thanks,

Z.

I can only go by my own experience -  Airbnb - get customer to ask CFO to visit and provide advice. Property walk-thru conducted, no need for intumescent strips on doors, nor automatic door closers,no fire extinquishers, but extra smoke alarms requred here, here and here, duly complied with and job done.

Your mileage may vary but I have found them to be very friendly and free with their advice.

No fire extinguishers? Really. Not even a fire blanket in the kitchen. Most letting agents require fire extinguishers and fire blankets installed before they will act for landlord and recommend their properties.
