IP washers

CW glands are usually IP66  does this mean outside we should fit fibre washers between the gland and the enclosure read something about them being IP 54 without the use of the washers not sure how true this it?

Thanks guys

  • Does the gland need to make good electrical contact with the enclosure? If yes, a fibre (or nylon or rubber, etc.) washer is not likely to be suitable. If you use a banjo (on the inside) you still potentially have a problem where the bolt goes through.

So how about a Dowty washer?
