So if I'm reading this correctly Lisa, the instigator (OP) of the topic has the ability to delete not only their own posts but everyone else's who posted?

I don't think that this is unusual - I have come across it elsewhere. The OP can delete the whole thread.
He never did say what role he played in the whole business.
