Ze readings on a TT system

Hi

I have a TT system on a farm where the ze readings are

L1 = >2000

L2 = 1.43

L3 = 1.41

readings took at the henley blocks directly from the meter. There's voltage on L1 and all the 3 phase equipment runs OK.

can anyone tell me why I'm getting this high reading.

Many thanks

BR
  • Are you sure this is a TT install? It will have RCDs of course, but the Ze readings are so low it seems very unlikely. I suggest that the readings are due to the bonding of external services, and other connected loads are TNC in some way. Your 2000 ohm reading is particularly strange, it must be a measurement error. You might consider insulating inserts in services as the supply is appearing to be TNC-S due to the bonding, not your fault but essentially not permitted for agricultural installations. Even the supply transformer is unlikely to have a Ze reading as low as this to real Earth. Wet soil still has significant resistance.
