Does cable need RCD protection?

25mm , 5 core armor cable buried under the 600mm depth in the garden, one outside Solar PV connection bringing the supply inside the property, 6kw solar panel. Does cable need RCD protection at the end? Suggestions Please ?

    Is this DC or mains, and where is the armour  earthed ?

    Can the inverter operate with the mains supply and earth absent ?


    Is the incoming supply TN something or TT ?


    If it is mains voltages, then I suspect an RCD is desirable, but may not be mandatory,  but what gets disconnected from what  when it fires matters.

    You do not want to create two live islands.
