The EICR and competence. What are we going to do about the endless problems brought to the forum?

Your answers Gentlemen, please. This is indicating a serious problem in the Industry. Trust is now zero. I am disgusted with the behavior of these alleged "inspectors" who are dim, dumb, deaf and blind, and cannot read the BBB. It is not good enough is it?

  • I am just doing an invoice for a landlords EICR I did last week, the three smoke alarms and the heat alarm expired in 2018, only one battery had been replaced since they were originally installed so three out of the four batteries expired in 2010.


    It is an installation that I installed new in 2008 and there was one repair that I could identify, the CDG 100 amp main switch has been replaced with a non-OEM main switch in the peak consumer unit, there has been the same issue in another flat in the same block, the flats were wired with off-peak supplies and installations, but tenants don't use the off-peak supplies then come home and overload the peak supply resulting in two 100 amp main switches failing in different flats.


    So after nearly thirteen years of use the only repair that I could identify was the main switch has been replaced, which I attribute to how the installation is being used. But the fire alarm system has not been fit for purpose for several years, so the safety inspection has served a purpose despite the installation being virtually as installed in 2008.
