S.W.A. Armour Earthing.

Which regulations(s) require the steel wire armouring of a S.W.A. cable to be earthed if it is NOT used as a circuit protective conductor?

Case 1. Cable buried underground.

Case 2. Cable NOT buried underground.

  • I like Graham’s separate terminal and notice. I put together the EV test rig for the City and Guilds 2919 EV course for three centres here in NI, which, for some strange reason required the EVSE to be converted to a TT arrangement. We used a 3-core SWA with the gland connected to the insulated body of the charge point and the earth core terminated into a connector left floating inside the enclosure. Even after two days of instruction, it was remarkable how many candidates thought that it was a deliberate mistake!
