Bonding Metal Stud work in new build

HI all.

Company I am doing work for have asked me to bond the metal stud work from 1 socket on the wall with 4mm bond to an upright, apparently, some got a shock pff a door handle, a cable was screwed on the live only and livened up the whole wall, I assumed it was RCD protected.

Any better Ideas?

Cheers

Can you not Bond back to the MET? I am not an electrician but I do have to Bond my installations, and we Bond with 4mm back to the MET.

Assuming that the ;'wall socket' is 2.5mm Twin & Earth, 4mm would give no more protection the a single solid strand of the Earth wire out of a bit of 2.5mm Twin & Earth.

And was it an 'electrical shock', could you measure it, or was it just a 'touch current'?
  • not sure about the shock, as it was another contractor on another site, they put wooden roofing lath as noggins for the metal back boxes to fix to, so the wall will have no earth to it . as for wiring back to the MET no chance you'll have 4mm everywhere, I am looking into adjustable metal noggins as this would earth it.
