Underground or Overground (nothing to do with wombles!)

Hi All, another quick question:

I need to run a supply from a house to a detached garage, about 1.2m apart.

If underground does it really need to be 0.6m deep?

If overghead, can I ignore the minimum height if fixed to something substantial rather than just bridging the gap?

  • yes, it can be less than 60cm, but needs to be deep enough to be protected against likely disturbance.  So arguably under a concrete path, about 3 inches is enough so long as it will never be dug up ?

Similarly if there is an archway or a bridge, then a cable can be attached to it even if it is lower.
