Extractor Fan Switch.

I have just stumbled upon this. A fan isolator switch with integral fuse. Has anybody any experiences with these please. Any good?

  • Let's not even talk about looping at the switch. Now then, what do we have? Loop in and loop out to the next room; loop to shaver socket; 3C&E to fan; switch drop to light switch; supply to luminaire. That's 6 CPCs, which won't fit in the back-box terminal, and the neutrals so a couple of Wagos. You need a back-box the size of a bucket!
  • I have been looking at in line duct fans that can be installed in lofts. They run quieter if loft installation is possible. I have installed many Manrose 4 inch (100mm) duct fans. They seem to be well made and reliable.  Recently I have seen adverts for Blauberg in line duct fans. I have bought a Turbo-E-100T for appraisal.  The blades turn very freely and the fan blades are large. I believe that the motors are German made. The cost is less than that of a Manrose fan of equal size. We shall see. Time will tell.  I have no connection with this company except as a customer.

Try Airflow inline fans, good on price and reliability. Just under £40 online.

  • You will need a 3 amp fuse but you can put this next to the fan in roof. Also explains what maintenance is required if you wanted to know, but I don’t know many that would carry that out.

They seem good enough to me, but terminating the cable is a real fiddle. And do we need a size 0 Pozidriv?

All part of the tool kit Chris.

Is there a conventional TP fan switch that satisfies the second paragraph of 537.3.2.3?

Will ON and OFF suffice Bod?

Well, it depends if you would be happy installing a shower pull switch that doesn't have a flag to confirm that the open position of the contacts has been achieved....................

Regarding showers, there is always the neon light on the ceiling switch and on the shower casing. But I thought that we were discussing fans.

In as much that the topic has 17 hours ago drifted to fans from the OP of extractor fan switch, on the subject of switching off for mechanical maintenance, is your proffered use of the neon acceptable?
