New Consumer Unit.

Mornin' all,

What is the average price of a new basic 6 way R.C.B.O. consumer unit , supplied and installed these days please? To include testing and paperwork as well. No S.P.D.

  • I think there's quite a few variables that could sway the price quite widely, but assuming you're excluding an EICR beforehand & just carrying out a simple enough board change (Not having to extend cables / change tails etc..)  With an EIC cert carried out at the end I think you'll be looking at something in the region of £400.00 -  £500 Ex VAT (South east)

  • For me it would be between £600 and £700 plus VAT

A lot of mine are coming out nearer £1000
  • May I ask whether you charge an hourly rate or fixed price? If fixed, how many hours do you allow?
  • Around £550 plus vat depending on traveling distance and how easy to install. Generally I’ll get the customer to get a isolator fitted beforehand if required. Price would include new tails, gland etc. But water/gas bonds would be extra and quoted for at the same time. I personally now fit SPD boards since the price isn’t that much more.
