
Agree it is a pretty good article. The one thing that I would add is do not mess with the AVR yourself unless you really understand what you are doing. Note that the Chief Engineer in this case had a good basic understanding but left it to the expert to set up the new AVR.
Yachts and ships are (relatively) small local generation systems and throw up various issues that don't appear on a national-scale grid system and can help inform those trying to set up local generation systems, but they also may have requirements that are not necessary for land based installations (for instance, a vessel heading up a river which experiences a power failure is in a rather more serious predicament than a house that suffers a power failure….).
