Lighting/

Old couple. Modern retirement bungalow. Asked for a socket to be moved so that a hallway nightlight can work better for nighttime visits to the W.C. To save money I suggested using the passageway light which switch is located right next to the bedroom door.

“Oh no”, said the old girl, “We don't turn on that light at night”.

I have a Nest smoke detector with an LED light whch gets me to the loo and back at night.

Those ceiling mounted smoke detectors with bright lights used to piff me off when I stayed in the odd hotel room. As I was not used to them, I found them intrusive and they affected my sleep. When I installed some recently I tried to position the L.E.D.s facing away from the bed so that they were not so disturbing.
