1 MVA Tx cables

Hello,

On a project were a 1 MVA transformer is being installed, the cables from the transformer to the main LV panel are sized as 4x4x1C 240mm2 + 2x1C 240mm2 cpc.

UKPN advised that the transformer is only capable of receiving maximum 2x300mm2 single cables per phase.

Has anyone faced a similar situation?

Based on preliminary calculations it seems that the 2x300 per phase are not enough.

Your thoughts on this would be welcomed.

  • Normally the connections are to studs so that several crimp tags may be fitted at once to each. This limitation sounds a little odd, worth checking how the connections are designed. It may be that there is some space limitation.
