1 MVA Tx cables

Hello,

On a project were a 1 MVA transformer is being installed, the cables from the transformer to the main LV panel are sized as 4x4x1C 240mm2 + 2x1C 240mm2 cpc.

UKPN advised that the transformer is only capable of receiving maximum 2x300mm2 single cables per phase.

Has anyone faced a similar situation?

Based on preliminary calculations it seems that the 2x300 per phase are not enough.

Your thoughts on this would be welcomed.

  • Alan,

How do you confirm the current carrying capacity of the cabling in that case.

BS 7671 Table 4D3A (Run to 70) states an optimum CCC for a 300mm2 as 567A in trefoil, therefore 1134A in parallel 2DE.

This is far below 1443A required

    Thanks in advance
